Andrés Urquidi is a partner at UR Legal, leading the firm's Real Estate and Banking & Finance practices. Over more than a decade of practice, he has advised local and foreign developers, investors, and banks on complex real estate transactions and financing structures across Mexico, with a particular focus on Los Cabos, La Paz, and Tijuana.
On the real estate side, Andrés advises developers and investors on complex land acquisitions, trust (fideicomiso) structuring, and negotiations with institutional and private investors, representing North American individuals and entities investing in the Baja California Peninsula. His practice also includes general corporate advisory for the businesses behind these transactions.
In banking and finance, Andrés structures and negotiates secured lending transactions for domestic and foreign financial institutions, including syndicated loans, project and asset-based financing, and the full range of security instruments — pledges, mortgages, and guarantee, administration and source-of-payment trusts (fideicomisos). He is regularly retained by foreign lenders to perfect security interests over the assets, shares, and real property of Mexican subsidiaries.
Andrés has been recognized in the Banking & Finance practice by both Legal 500 and Best Lawyers, and has held the Next Generation Partner distinction for the past two years.

José Luis Estrada Maya is a partner at UR Legal and an attorney with more than 27 years of professional experience. His practice combines litigation with real estate and corporate law, with a focus on protecting those who acquire real property and invest in the sector. He brings buyers and investors a perspective that integrates legal review of the transaction, conflict prevention, and the defense of their rights when a dispute arises.
His background in the real estate, hospitality, and construction sectors gives him a clear understanding of the needs of those purchasing a home, a plot of land, or an investment property, as well as the operations of the companies that develop and market these projects. He has experience in contract review and negotiation, legal analysis of acquisitions, trusts (fideicomisos), land regularization, and the formalization of transactions before notaries and government authorities.
For the buyer, this experience translates into advice focused on identifying risks before committing their assets, assessing the obligations being assumed, and negotiating terms that protect their interests. As part of UR Legal's comprehensive service to domestic and foreign clients, his work strengthens the analysis of contingencies that can affect the acquisition, delivery, or formalization of a property.
Litigation is a central pillar of his practice. He has led and handled civil, commercial, criminal, administrative, and constitutional relief (amparo) matters, in addition to managing labor and tax-related contingencies. This experience allows him to define strategies in response to contractual breaches and disputes tied to real estate transactions, weigh negotiation alternatives, and conduct judicial defense with attention to the client's financial objectives.
He served as Deputy General Counsel of Grupo Pueblo Bonito, where he was involved in the legal direction of more than 50 companies and oversaw litigation and administrative proceedings. He previously served as Deputy Legal Director of Grupo Marhnos, and as Deputy Litigation Director at the Chamber of Deputies (Cámara de Diputados) and at Consorcio ARA.
